How Levels Are Assigned To A Home Care Package?

Home care packages are tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals who require assistance with care services. The process begins with an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) or Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS). Based on the results of this assessment, the person is assigned a specific level of care that matches their level of need. There are four different levels available, each with a corresponding funding package that covers approved home care services.

Level 1 is designed to meet basic care needs, while levels 2 and 3 provide more complex care services to individuals with specific health conditions. Finally, level 4 is intended for individuals who require high-level care assistance. During the assessment, various factors are considered, including the individual’s medical history, current health status, and living arrangements.

Once an individual has been assigned a home care package, they may access a range of services that cater to their specific needs, such as personal care, domestic assistance, and transportation services.
